Slam Cup
Slam Cup is a rapid color-matching challenge in which everyone races to stack their cups onto one shared pile. Match the inside of one of your cups to the outside color currently showing, slam it down before anyone else, and be the first player to empty your supply at a Midnight Oil event.

Quick facts
What is Slam Cup?
Each stacking cup has one color on the outside and another on the inside. The outside color of the top cup creates the current target, and every player searches their own cups for an inside color that matches it.
There are no slow turns. Everyone watches the same stack and plays at once, so each new cup instantly changes the target color. Quick recognition and controlled hands matter more than long-term strategy.
How does it play?
- Divide the cups. Give each player the same number of cups and prepare the central base and starting color as shown in the rules.
- Watch the top color. The outside of the cup currently on top of the stack tells everyone which color must be matched next.
- Find a matching inside. Search your own cups for one whose inside color matches the target.
- Slam it onto the stack. Place the matching cup on top before another player does. Its outside color immediately becomes the new target.
- Empty your supply first. The first player to stack all of their cups wins the round.
Why you might like it
- The rules can be demonstrated in only a few moments.
- Simultaneous play creates instant excitement and plenty of close calls.
- Color recognition and physical pieces make the game engaging for children and visual learners.
Who is it best for?
Slam Cup is best for families, children, energetic groups, and players who like quick reaction games. It depends on color recognition and fast hand movement, so it may be less suitable for players with color-vision or fine-motor challenges unless the group adapts the pace.
