Quick facts
What is Slingz?
Each player begins a round with five letter cards. A face-up theme might ask for a kind of food, something found in a particular place, a phrase that fits a situation, or another open-ended category.
Everyone plays at once. Say a valid answer beginning with one of your letters and sling that card to the center. After three accepted answers, the next theme appears. The round rewards quick thinking, while the full game rewards consistently shedding difficult letters.
How does it play?
- Deal five letters. Give every player five letter cards and reveal the first theme.
- Think at the same time. Everyone searches for a word or short phrase that fits the theme and begins with one of their letters.
- Say it and sling it. Call out the answer and immediately play the matching letter card to the center.
- Change the theme. After three valid answers have been played, reveal the next theme and continue without pausing.
- Finish the round and score. The first player to empty their hand wins the round. Other players score the lightning bolts left in hand; when the end threshold is reached, the lowest total score wins.
Why you might like it
- Open-ended categories produce funny, surprising answers instead of testing a fixed trivia list.
- Simultaneous play keeps a larger group involved from start to finish.
- The changing themes prevent one difficult letter from feeling impossible for long.
Who is it best for?
Slingz is best for families with older children, teens, adults, party groups, and players who enjoy word association under pressure. It relies on reading, vocabulary, and speaking answers quickly, so it may not be the best fit for early readers or players who prefer turn-based games.

Frequently asked questions
Is Slingz a trivia game?
No. The categories are open-ended and reward quick, reasonable answers rather than knowledge of fixed facts.
Can the same answer be used twice?
No. An answer may be used only once during a round, so players must keep finding new possibilities.
Do answers have to be single words?
No. The rules allow a word or a short phrase as long as it fits the theme and begins with the letter played.
What happens to cards left in hand?
Their lightning-bolt values become penalty points. The player with the lowest total score at the end wins.
